MINNEAPOLIS SHOUT-OUT FROM TRISHA JEFFREY

Minneapolis!!! Although the weather is freezing in comparison to last week, things have been really good so far. On our first night here, a bunch of us took a trip to St. Paul to see our friends in The Color Purple. What a treat! They were wonderful and we were all so happy to see each other.

Today I performed both shows as Joanne and it felt great to be close to my favorite lesbian lawyer, once again. The show was lots of fun for me and believe me, we can always tell when our audiences are having a good time. So thank you, Minneapolis! And one more thing. You can catch Nicolette and I on ABC's "Twin Cities Live" at 3:00pm this Friday. OMG, that's today! We hope you tune in :-)
xoxo

HELLO FROM TRISHA JEFFREY

We’re in Tempe, Arizona this week and boy, it feels good to be here! New York has always been my home, and though I’ve traveled to many new places, Arizona has not been one of them. It’s so crazy that I get to reunite with my family, whom I haven’t seen in y-e-a-r-s! Who would’ve thought that my urbanite baby brother would fall in love with Phoenix, or that my mom would be so lucky to be able to visit him, the very same week that I’m in town?! They will get to see me perform in RENT for the very first time and they are just going to love it. Before going on this tour, I never imagined myself visiting a place like Tempe. In fact, I’d never even heard of it! Did I mention I’m a born and raised New Yorker? :) Between the sunny, warm climate – which my body and spirit just craves, and all the cool things around Arizona State University, plus that hippie store on Mill Avenue, I feel quite at home. So far, I’ve gotten a real good taste of what Tempe has to offer and I’m looking forward to more. Here’s a picture that I took while hanging at the Gordon Biersch Brewery & Restaurant with my buddies from the RENT band, Jeff Potter and David Truskinoff. We got a fun, savory sampler of the Brewery’s great German beer. I recommend the Dunkelweizen, anytime!

HELLO ALL IN RENTLAND!

I'm writing from my hotel in beautiful San Diego and i'm extremely exhausted from the past week of shows in L.A. We all had an unbelievable time at the Pantages and i still can't believe the response from the audiences. Pascal and I drove down today to get into San Diego just in time for the show so i really haven't had the full SD experience yet. I'm just happy to be out of a snowy environment right about now.. holla if you hear me! I guess being in this city is the perfect opportunity to finally fulfill a childhood dream........SEA WORLD!! haha don't judge me....but wait.. didn't Shamu die? ;-( well then i guess i will be looking at a damn good understudy. In any case i will take this opportunity to sit and record some more music. Living in NYC didn't allow me to submerge myself in the recording process so everything was a bit unfocused. But touring has been a blessing in that respect. i will hopefully return to post some pics of my adventures! stay tuned ppl!

NEWARK SHOUT-OUT FROM GWEN STEWART

Hey all you Jerseyites out there!!! This is Gwen Stewart Newark's own. This is my first time blogging EVER and I thought it appropriate to start in my home town. We opened Tuesday night to a great crowd. I think there were some NY folks there as well. We got mad Metro love!! I've never performed at NJPAC before so this is a thrill for me. It is a BEAUTIFUL house. I have never been in it though I saw it going up before I moved to California. The tour has been going great. Our audiences have been wonderful and are embracing our show whether they are RENT virgins or have seen it a million times. I always said this show was timeless and you have proven me right. Tuesday night's audience was super insane. For those of you who didn't know Cary Shields went on for Adam as Roger and did a bang up job!!! Kudos to you my friend. But Adam was back Wednesday night and the ladies went wild!!! Who doesn't love Adam Pascal? lol anyway I'm looking forward to the rest of the week. It's gonna be a blast. I will be sad to leave home, but I gotta get back "On The Road Again." I don't have a Facebook page yet but soon and I hope to finally get to chat with some of you who have shown your love to me over the years. I hear there is a page dedicated to me?!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!! Thank you whoever you are. Muah hugs and kisses from Lady G. blog ya later (^_^)

RENT IN PHILLY

Hey everyone!

Thanks for keeping up with our blog. We had a great week in Philly and I, being a native, am sad to see its end. Many cheesesteaks were eaten and we've survived. We're much stronger for it. :)

Thanks to the thousands of audience members who saw the show in this fantastic city. We had amazingly receptive crowds! It was also an honor to be playing one of the oldest opera houses in the country.

I hope you enjoy the vlog. We certainly had a fun time making it!

Next up: Newark. Many of us are able to sleep at our own apartments in NY during our Newark stay. It'll be nice to be home for a bit.

Thanks to all!
Adam

A CHARLOTTE SHOUT FROM ADAM HALPIN

Greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina! We opened the show to a wonderful audience in Charlotte last night, our 4th city on this exciting, new tour! It's been nothing short of blessing thus far; being able to perform this show every night in different cities for eager, supportive, energetic audiences.

Joining this cast as one of 3 newbies (in addition to Lexi and Toby) has been a thrilling experience. It's not only a great learning experience as an actor to be working alongside such talent 8 times a week, but it's been a blast getting to know everyone as people. We're less than a month into performances and it already feels like home away from home. It's heartwarming to know that a cast can get so close, so quickly...especially, in such an often isolating experience - on tour - being away from friends and family.

Charlotte is a great time. We had a fun opening night party at this lounge called Mez, last night...and because we're staying in such a metropolitan part of town, there is plenty to do: Museums, Spas, Restaurants, Cafes, etc. It should be a great week.

Good times are surely ahead as we travel this wonderful country and I hope you continue to periodically check our blog for more sights and sounds from the tour. A huge thanks to all of our fans!

I'll be blogging next week (via video) from my home city of Philadelphia. Look out! :)

Best-
Adam

A NOTE FROM LEXI LAWSON IN DURHAM

Howdie ya'll it's Lexi Lawson coming to you from Durham, North Carolina (as I say with a very southern accent). We had such an amazing time in Buffalo but were eager to get away from the snow! Well apparently the snow followed us here because it snowed for the first time in four years the moment we got off the plane. They actually declared a state of emergency!!!!

Did everyone watch Inauguration Day? I hope so! I watched it with Telly, Andy and Adam H. -- it was such a powerful and historical moment. It was so moving -- I couldn't help but to shed a few tears. Though this crazy world is going through some hard depressive times, hope was instilled in each and everyone of us during his speech -- 1/20/09 was heaven sent and will never be forgotten!

Ok I must go now because my puppy isn't happy that I'm not giving her any attention. I had fun doing the whole blog thang!!!! I can't wait to see you guys at the show! Remember to live in the moment, there's no day but today, and LOVE is the only thing that exists, everything else is just an illusion.....

Xo,
Lexi

P.S. Keep an eye out for my songs on iTunes and my new website coming soon: www.lexilawsonsite.com.

HELLO FROM LEXI LAWSON

Hi folks!!! Lexi Lawson here coming to you from below zero Buffalo, NY. Its soooooo colddddddd!!!! I'm currently in the car with Nicolette and Anthony driving around town. (They say hi!) I'm thrilled to announce that the cast is having such a fabulous time performing for you guys. The response from the audience is crazy! You guys are so supportive! I couldn't be more happier with how the show is going and how thankful I am that I have been embraced with open arms into this warm and wonderful RENT family. I'm learning so much from these amazingly talented actors every night and I couldn't ask for a better group of teachers. Again, I am extremely appreciative. Playing the role of Mimi is something that I dreamt about since I was in junior high school, so to be able to step into her shoes (specifically the infamous cheetah Mimi boots) is going to be a bit surreal for a long time to come- and did I mention that both you and I get to see Adam, Anthony, and Gwen work it out night after night! Ummmmmm wow. Ya'll are in for a big ol' delicious treat!!

On a side note a friend of mine from high school passed away this week due to cancer. He was so young but his spirit lives on. Please take a moment to tell your loved ones that you love them, hug your friends, stop fighting with your boyfriend or wife- cuz Love is the only thing that exists, everything else is just an illusion.

Xo,
Lexi

WELCOME TO THE TOUR BLOG

Greetings to everyone from cold and (now rainy) Cleveland, where we've been hard at work putting all the technical aspects of our production together. Last night was our first performance, and I honestly was curious to see what the response would be like compared to the response Adam and I got when we returned to the Broadway show in 2007. Would people clap as loudly? Would they cheer? Would they moo? Would they stand at the end?

Well, the answer to all those questions was a resounding yes. The theatre here -- the beautifully restored Palace -- is more than twice the size of the Nederlander, and the sound and feeling of 2700 people cheering when we walked onstage was more than a little overwhelming. They mooed with the best of them, and leapt to their feet at the end of the show. It was an amazing way to begin our eight month odyssey across the country (not to mention Tokyo).

I've already said so many things over the years in interviews, the Rent bible, and my own book about how much I love performing in this show and telling this story, and that was just as true last night as ever. We have an incredible company of actors who have come together to take this journey, and our great good fortune is that they are not only supremely talented performers, but they are all also incredible people offstage. The spirit and camaraderie and love and mutual respect and support we all have for one another is palpable. Last night during Life Support I looked around at all my fellow actors up on that platform and was so grateful that *these* are the people I'll be spending this time with.

Only two people in our company are brand new to Rent -- Lexi Lawson, our adorable Mimi; and Adam Halpin, our Gordon -- and not everyone of us has done the show together before, but now we've all fused into an ensemble with its own textures and energy. Having a rehearsal process allowed us to create our very particular chemistry, and that will only deepen as we go.

Hopefully last night's rapturous response wasn't an anomaly, and the rest of the tour will be met with such warm, open arms.

We are all so fortunate to be a part of this amazing piece that continues to change and shape our lives, and to get to share it with all of you.

Hope you're having a great and happy new year. See you in a city near you...

Take care--

Anthony
