I don't care if this gets posted, I just want another human being affiliated with the show to know my story.
I've always written that I've found my family, my "Rent", here in Madison, Wisconsin. I've always been a bit of a Renthead myself, so I went with my "family" (my blood family isn't in the picture, because I'm trans) to see Rent.
My best friend has a terminal brain tumor that effects her every so often but she looks and functions normally most of the time. During the second act of Saturday's performance she lost her sight. She regained it, but it reminded me that "there is no future, there is no past". I've never had anyone like her in my life and Rent has helped me to value her, my life, and my adopted Madison family.
With tears in my eyes and love in my heart, I say thank you.
Over the course of its groundbreaking 12-year New York run, RENT transformed the definition of musical theater -- and changed Broadway forever. Set in NYC's East Village, RENT is a modern take on the classic Puccini opera, La Boheme. It tells the unforgettable story of a group of young artists learning to survive, falling in love, finding their voices and living for today.
